Crushed Stone M1200 vs M1400: Which to Choose for Your Project?

Comparing the two most popular strength grades. When is it worth overpaying for M1400, and when is M1200 sufficient.

Crushed Stone M1200 vs M1400: Which to Choose for Your Project?

Strength grade is the stone's capability to withstand mechanical loads. The difference between M1200 and M1400 might seem insignificant, but it is critical for certain types of work.

Grade M1200: The Gold Standard

M1200 crushed stone is the most demanded material in civil and industrial construction. It has an excellent balance of price and quality.

M1200 Applications:

  • Foundations of high-rise buildings (up to 25 floors)
  • Road surfaces of federal highways
  • Production of high-strength concrete (classes B30-B40)
  • Bridge supports

Grade M1400: Extra Strength

M1400 is elite granite crushed stone. It is used where loads are extreme.

M1400 Applications:

  • Airfield runways
  • Skyscraper foundations
  • Hydraulic structures (dams)
  • Load-bearing structures of high-load bridges

What to Choose?

For 95% of construction tasks in Kazakhstan, grade M1200 is sufficient. It provides the necessary margin of strength and frost resistance (F300+).

M1400 should only be chosen if it is explicitly specified in the project documentation for highly critical facilities.
